Explore Mt Buffalo National Park

Get closer to nature at this spectacular 'island in the sky', home to plants found nowhere else on Earth. Sheer cliffs, granite tors, waterfalls and big views make Mount Buffalo a must-see alpine retreat. Hike through stunted Snow Gum forests, toboggan in Cresta Valley. There's something to do in every season.

Follow the Lakeside Walk through twisted Snow Gum forests and breathe in the fresh mountain air.

Check out the view from The Horn, the highest point in Mount Buffalo National Park at 1,723m.
Watch Australian Kestrels dive on Bogong Moths at sunset.

Mount Buffalo is home to charismatic Australian wildlife and 550 species of native plants, including plants found nowhere else on Earth, such as the Buffalo Sallee tree.

Hike Laby Bath Falls

Ladies Bath and Eurobin Falls

Mount Buffalo National Park

At Ladies Bath Falls, water cascades into a perfectly clear pool of water, while at Upper and Lower Eurobin Falls, Crystal Creek spills spectacularly over a formidable granite escarpment.
With only a short walk to see all three, this is an excellent half-day trip..

Ladies Bath and Eurobin Falls is one of the first places you can stop on your way up Mount Buffalo. In the early 20th century, travellers would stop here to cool off on their way to the Mount Buffalo chalet. The men and women would separate and Ladies Bath is where the women would come to dip their toes in the refreshing waters of Crystal Brook.

Although the waterfall doesn't look very big, this creek has formed the huge chasm you will see up at the top of Eurobin Falls.

If you are cooling off at Ladies Bath Falls, be careful walking over the rocks as they can be very slippery.

As waterfalls are within a natural environment, you may encounter hazards. Follow our water safety advice to make sure your day out at Ladies Bath and Eurobin Falls is a safe and enjoyable one.

Ride or Walk the Rail trail Into Bright

Take a rest at Riverside Park and enjoy a view to Mount Buffalo from the side of the river.

Rail Trail Cafe: This is clearly a popular place to stop for a coffee and / or a bit to eat. There are a couple of other options further along on the main drag.

Bright to Porepunkah (Murray to Mountains Rail Trail) - Walking Maps

Explore Bright Splash Park

Water from an old gold dredge bucket dumps down on the children waiting below, hitting the ground with a 'splash'. Gleeful shrieks fill the air. Nearby, a father and son are drenching each other with water cannons. Water squirts from the ground as children dart through rings of spray glistening in the sunlight.

Splayed out on the grass by the banks of the Ovens River are families picnicking, sunbaking, reading, and sleeping. Some swim in the river as the lifeguard watches on, edging as close to the dam wall as they can before the water cascades over.

Set within Centenary Park and close to the cafes and eateries of the town centre, the Splash Park and River Pool has easy access to gas BBQs and picnic tables. A large children's playground, drinking water and public toilets are located in the adjoining Howitt Park.

Best of all, it's free!

The Splash Park and River Pool are officially open in the warmer months of the year when a lifeguard is on duty. The season generally runs up to the Easter long weekend before the splash park is switched off for winter when the river runs cold and fast.

The splash park uses a single-use water system that draws water from a bore and requires no chemical treatment. Used water is drained into the river, adding to the natural flows.

Canyon Walk

The Canyon Walk along the Ovens River is one of the prettiest to go on. Tracking crystal clear waters and shady trees, cool in summer, you'll never get tired of this walk.
A little rough and stony in places but well worth the effort.

Approximately 1.5 hour loop. Leaving Bright.
